How DateViser works with Grindr

  1. Take a screenshot in Grindr of the profile, the chat or the story you want to answer. DateViser does not open or connect to Grindr; a screenshot is all it needs.
  2. Upload it and set the boldness slider, anywhere from sweet to daring. The app reads who said what and where the conversation stands.
  3. Copy the reply and send it in Grindr. Not quite right? Tap "generate more" for a different angle, not the same line reworded.

Opening with more than "hey"

The Grindr grid is built for speed, which is why the first message is usually "hey" or "sup". A profile with an About Me, tags or a photo with something in it gives you better material. DateViser reads the screenshot and writes an opener about one concrete thing:

  • Your profile says "coffee snob". I have a strong opinion about the place two streets from you and I need to know if you agree.
  • The gym tag and the pizza photo are fighting each other and I'm here for it. Which one wins on a Sunday?
  • "Looking for chats" is rare on here, so: what's the last thing that made you laugh out loud?

If the profile is only a photo and a distance, screenshot the photo. A detail in the picture beats a comment on the person.

You got a tap, or a "hey", and want a real conversation

A tap or a one-word message means interest with no topic. Answering "hey" with "hey" leaves it at zero. DateViser takes something from their profile and hands them a topic, so the chat has somewhere to go:

  • Hey. Your About Me mentions vinyl, so I'm going to need your most embarrassing record before we go any further.
  • Hey! Quick one: the photo with the mountain, was that a hike or a very committed background choice?
  • Hey :) Your tag says "foodie". Best thing you ate this week, no hesitation.

Upload the whole chat, not just the last message. The tone changes depending on whether "hey" arrived at 2 pm or 2 am.

Keeping it going when the replies are short

Grindr replies tend to be short, and a chat can die on "nice" or "haha". DateViser writes a follow-up that is easier to answer than to ignore: an either-or question, a small claim, something specific from earlier in the chat:

  • Right, I'm deciding for both of us: you're a tea person. Argue.
  • You said "nice" about the hike, which I'm reading as "take me next time".

No. DateViser never logs in to Grindr, never sees your grid, taps or messages, and never sends anything. You take a screenshot inside Grindr, upload it to DateViser and copy the reply back yourself. Grindr does not know DateViser exists.

What is a good first message on Grindr?

One line about something specific in their profile: an About Me line, a tag, a detail in a photo. It should be answerable in a sentence. "Hey" and "sup" work as a tap, not as a conversation; adding one detail turns the same message into a chat.
